Building More Than Towers: How LEGO Can Bring Families Closer

When you think of LEGO, you might picture colourful bricks scattered across the floor, little hands building towers, or a castle taking shape on the living room carpet. But what if LEGO could be more than just play? What if it could be a tool for communication, confidence, and connection within your family?
That is exactly what Richard from Build Recovery has discovered.
Richard is a dad and a passionate advocate for mental health. For years, he has used LEGO in his work with people in recovery, helping them rebuild trust, find their voice, and feel more confident in themselves. He has seen first-hand how the simple act of building side by side can open up space for conversations that otherwise feel hard to have.
Now he is bringing this powerful approach to families and children, and we are delighted to host two of his Family LEGO Workshops here at Nest.
Why LEGO?
When hands are busy, hearts often open. Children, and adults too, tend to share more easily when they are focused on something creative. The pressure of eye contact lifts, conversation flows more naturally, and before you know it, you are connecting on a deeper level.
LEGO creates a shared purpose. You are working together, solving problems, and celebrating what you have built, all of which naturally strengthens family bonds.
What to Expect
The workshops are playful, creative, and relaxed. Richard will guide families through activities designed to encourage teamwork and collaboration, spark conversations in a gentle and natural way, build confidence for children and adults alike, and strengthen relationships through shared play.
You do not need any special skills. Just curiosity, a willingness to play, and maybe a bit of patience when your tower topples over.
The Bigger Picture
At Nest we are passionate about creating experiences that nurture not only mums but families as a whole. These workshops are about so much more than LEGO. They are about giving families time to pause, play, and connect in a world that often pulls us in a hundred different directions.
When you walk away you will have more than just the memory of a fun afternoon. You will have fresh ways of communicating, listening, and working together as a family. These are tools you can carry back into everyday life.
